Gear Up for the 2024 Legislative Session

Saturday, December 2 | 9am–3pm | Virtual

Learn about what's expected in the upcoming legislative session on the League's key issues from our lobbyist, legislators, and Advocacy Team. On the agenda:

  • Legislative forecast from LWVWA's contract lobbyist
  • Panel discussion with elected state legislators
  • Attend breakout groups focused on the League's key issues:
    • Redistricting
    • Local News and News Media Literacy
    • Health Care
    • Behavioral Health
    • Children’s Issues & Education
    • Elections & Money in Politics
    • Climate Change & Energy
    • Revenue
    • Housing & Homelessness
    • Criminal Justice

Also learn about engaging with the legislature in a separate session on January 6. Called “Speak-up School”, this session will include the following topics:

  • How to use the legislative web site for legislation and additional background
  • How to use the League’s legislative newsletter
  • How to testify effectively
  • How to talk to legislators in one-one or small group meetings

This session will also prepare League members and others for Democracy Lobby Week with Fix Democracy First, to be held the week of January 22-26, 2024.
